Meet board member Anthony Anderson

Anthony Anderson | WB Stone Dairy - Henning

Tell us a bit about yourself.

I’m a first-generation farmer on a fourth-generation dairy farm. I took over the farm from a former Minnesota Milk board member in 2015. My wife Sherry and I have been married for 30 years. My daughters, Justine and Sarah, work off the farm, and my son Derek is a member of the Minnesota National Guard and works with me on the farm full time. We are currently milking 515 Holsteins, and we raise the heifers until five months, when they move off-site to a grower. We run 1,000 acres, which provides all the forages for the farm. We are currently working on plans for a new calf barn and dry cow/heifer facility to allow us to raise all our animals on site.

Tell us why you are committed to the organization and what it means to you.

I’m committed to Minnesota Milk because the dairy farmers in Minnesota need to have a strong and passionate voice for them in St. Paul. Having a trusted advocate at the Capitol and fighting for policies important to our continued success brings me some peace of mind when I don’t have extra time to spend at the Capitol.

What are you looking forward to the most in your role on the MN Milk board?

I’m excited to return to the board for another term and especially excited to take on the role of vice president. I enjoy the work that the board does and am thrilled to be facilitating the meetings in my new role. This industry has given me so much, and I hope to be able to give a little bit back to it with my involvement on the Minnesota Milk board.
